Speaker Spotlight: Scott Basgaard

We asked each of our speakers a few questions about themselves and their connection with WordPress – here’s what Scott had to say.

ScottScott lives somewhere in the mountains of beautiful Southern Norway. Born and raised in New Jersey, he moved there to live with his wife Renate and son. He loves all things WordPress and organized the first WordCamp Norway in 2012. At Human Made, Scott takes a hands-on approach towards organising and executing projects within their growing client list. He’s very passionate about helping others and also organizes a free 24-hour-long WordPress event called WordSesh.

How are you involved with WordPress and the WordPress community?

For the past 7-8 years WordPress has been a huge part of my daily life. But besides putting food on the table and paying the bills I am passionate about teaching others about WordPress. Almost 2 years ago I started an online conference called WordSesh which brings 24 hours of live WordPress presentations straight to your home for free. I’ve also helped start the WordPress community here in Norway and still co-organize WordCamp Norway and a Meetup here in Stavanger.

What excites you most about WordPress?

I get really excited to see people use WordPress in was it wasn’t meant to be used. Pushing the limits and innovating is an awesome place to be.

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

Flying of course! Airplanes, rockets, birds or anything related around flying have always been of huge interest to me. My father was a commercial airline pilot growing up and I’m on my way to getting my pilot’s license. Unfortunately I’m color-blind so I’m stuck with WordPress instead of following his footsteps in aviation.
