Speaker Spotlight: Mark Forrester

We asked each of our speakers a few questions about themselves and their connection with WordPress – here’s what Mark had to say.

Mark ForresterMark is a proud co-founder of WooThemes. Over the last 6 years their business has grown from a team of 3 passionate theme designers, to a distributed team of 40+ staff developing WordPress’s most popular eCommerce plugin.

Mark is also an amateur dad, avid sports fan, photographer and digital designer.

How are you involved with WordPress and the WordPress community?

I used to be very hands on with commercial theme design, but now focus most my attention and time in ensuring our team at WooThemes has all the tools, expertise, knowledge and focus to make WordPress products much more powerful and creative than I could ever dreamt of making myself.

What excites you most about WordPress?

  • The endless possibilities to extend it and innovate upon it coupled with the passion of the community that powers it.
  • A global audience of highly skilled and diverse individuals.
  • And the open source nature of the platform providing a unique and exciting business model and philosophy that ensures a legacy and an impact on people around the world.

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

I recently read a Quora question on this actually and loved the developer centric most popular answer:

Fork multiple branches of reality, rollback anything I don’t like, and switch between branches at will. Merge the forked branches and resolve any merge conflicts by hand.
